Oris Watches
The first ever quality watch I ever bought was an Oris watch. I still have it and wear it to this day. Oris have been making classically styled Swiss watches with mechanical movements for a century. Today, Oris combines traditional watch making techniques with modern micro technology to produce functional diver’s watches, distinguished pilot’s watches, and complications. In 2003, Oris signed an agreement to become the exclusive watch partner of the BMW WilliamsF1 Team.
Oris Automatic watches are deceptive simple in appearance. It's only after careful inspection does one appreciate the subtle elegance of the watch. An Oris Automatic watch is the antithesis of the throw-away culture; the Oris Automatic is meant to be worn for one's entire lifetime and passed down to the next generation. Oris Automatic watches are also very accurate timepieces. Depending of the movement used, the average daily rate will be between +30/5 seconds per day. These rates are within the tolerances set by Oris and cover both automatic and handwinding watches. The Oris watch picture on the right is from the Frank Sinatra collection. The case is stainless steel and has a sapphire glass. Its functions include: Moon Phase indicator window; Pointer hand Date display; 24 hour format ( military ) hand; Pointer hand Day display.
The Oris Williams F-1 Team is an automatic chronograph watch. It comprises steel case with Tachymetre scale on the bezel and observation case back. The dial is black carbon fiber with date calendar, luminous hands and markers. The watch band is rubber. The crown has traditional style push buttons. The watch also has the following functions: date calendar, window display. 12 hr, 30 min, 60 sec registers chronograph. As you can see, the Oris Williams F-1 watch is a very contemporary styled watch, robustly made; a collector's item for those who love all things modern. I really love the simple colorings of gray, anthracite and steel.
Oris also make fashionable ladies watches. They are available in the Miles Davis collection, Artelier collection, Frank Sinatra collection and TT1 collection. The one picture on the left is from the Oris Artelier collection. The case and bracelet are stainless steel and the watch comes with an automatic movement. I really like the utter simplicity of this watch. It can be worn as both a sports watch as well as an elegant dress watch. Its design will also never go out of style. The Frank Sinatra collection is similar in style, but the face has a squarer shaped case. The Miles Davis collection have rectangular casings with mother of pearl dials, and some models come with inlaid diamonds.
Those who are lucky enough to own an Oris Swiss watch appreciate their subtle, timeless design. An Oris watch is something you can wear for the rest of your life without ever tiring of it. I have had mine many years and still love wearing it.
